Members
All work done by Camcore is a collaborative effort involving member companies and the NC State University staff. Some projects are program-wide, while others may be more regional in nature, involving several members in one or more countries. Members participate in projects applicable to them based on species, products produced, or land type and climate. Camcore staff work primarily in Raleigh, North Carolina, but travel frequently to member companies. We provide a variety of services, including:
-
- Distribution of research quantities of seeds from various tree populations for field trial establishment, testing, breeding and conservation
- Distribution of improved seed and hybrid crosses produced through cooperative projects
- Trial design, data analysis and interpretation
- Development of tree breeding programs and conservation strategies
-
- Species-to-site matching for plantation forestry
- Annual technical visits
- Genetic diversity assessments using molecular markers
- Wood quality assessment and analyses of plantation species
- Quantitative genetics and economic assessments of tree breeding programs
- Access to technical reports and scientific publications
- Invitations to Tree Improvement and Database Management short courses
- Opportunity to view technological developments in tree breeding and silvicultural research of its membership around the world through annual field visits to a different country each year
